FIPSE-CAPES Project

Sustainable Coastal Resource Management

Coastal and marine resources are strategic assets that offer both Brazil and the United States promising opportunities for economic diversification and integration of coastal tourism, aquaculture, and maritime transportation. With funding from the US-Brazil Higher Education Consortia Program, which is sponsored by the US Department Of Education Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) and the Brazilian Fundação Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), the Coastal Studies Consortium, will develop research and student exchange programs in sustainable coastal resource management that address the need for improved scientific communication and for policy makers equipped to use sound science to promote sustainable coastal resource management
